SLEEP AND PET IMAGING
What is this project about?
This research study seeks to better understand the effects of sleep loss on brain function and drug responses in healthy adults.

This study is approved by the Johns Hopkins Institutional Review Board . The principal investigator for this project is Michael Smith, PhD.

Am I eligible to participate?
You may be eligible for this study if you:
-
are between 18-48 years old
-
do not have chronic pain
-
are a healthy, good sleeper
-
are a low caffeine user
-
have previously taken an opioid medication
​
What will I be asked to do for this study and will I be compensated?
Your participation in this study will involve:
-
Two in-person screening sessions at the Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Campus
-
Several overnight stays at our clinical research unit
-
Medication and/or placebo exposure
-
MRI and PET scans
​
Will I be compensated for my time in this study?
Yes. You can earn up to $1205 for completing all study-related visits. All examinations, parking, and tests are provided at no cost.
